I went to the Dep't of Public Safety this morning for a copy of my MVR. Most job applications, if you're applying for a driving position, will ask for your moving violations in the last three (or sometimes five) years; and I just list what's on the MVR. Coincidentally, I think most state MVRs only go back three years - as is the case in Alabama.
It used to be that you could have no more than three violations in the past three years, because that was the stipulation of most trucking insurers. I have no idea how things are now. At any rate, these are the two violations currently listed on my MVR:

I got the speeding ticket in Indianapolis, on I70 westbound, just inside or just outside of I465. Big, four lane highway where nobody goes 55mph. Since I never use a CB anymore, I didn't hear a "bear report", and I got caught. I was listening to Dragnet on Old Time Radio Classics at the time. I remember because, as I was signing the ticket I started smiling; and the young, very nice state officer asked me, "What is it?" I said, "I was listening to Dragnet coming down through there," and we both laughed. The Indiana ticket will drop off on 7/3/2011.
Enterprise AL is a town west of Dothan on US84. I ended up running a red light because the yellow was too short. I was fully loaded and very heavy, and by the time I saw the yellow, there was no way I could stop. I had way too much momentum going by that time. But the yellow only lasted a few seconds, and as I passed under it, it was red. A little local cop, who seemed to have a thing against big trucks, saw it and wrote me up. This ticket will drop off 1/14/2011.
