The Meaning Of "Vacation" - Oklahoma City-Here I Am!

This must be what a Vacation is like. I'm sitting at a little table in my almost shabby motel room in OKC with the window open to a strong, cool breeze from outside. I feel better and more relaxed than I have in months.

Flying out here went off without a hitch, and while both planes were small and crowded, I was lucky enough to find seats to myself. It was good to see buildings, roads, farms, and cities from a cloud's perspective again; and as I peered out the plane's little window through the clouds, I wondered how God could have loved this tiny, insignificant planet and it's tiny, insignificant inhabitants enough to sacrifice His own flesh and blood for it. Amazing Grace!

I found the Econo Lodge's shuttle van outside the airport and was it's only passenger for the ride here. Inside my room, I discovered free wifi! and proceeded to finish watching the YouTube installments of The Mists of Avalon that I'd begun at home. And for the sake of reference, here's the first installment:

I guess it seems a little contradictory to speak of God and Jesus, and then reference something so unchristian. I prayed about my interest in things like the Avalon movie, Merlin, and the mysterious Arthurian legends last night. I believe a little mystery and intrigue, as long as it's purely entertainment, is good for a person.

Actually, I came to watch The Mists of Avalon again because of my interst in the music of Loreena McKinnett. One of her songs, The Mystic's Dream, is featured in installment five of the movie.

But it was the song The Mummer's Dance that promted me to buy Loreena's cassette, Book of Secrets, several years ago:

I even found a live version of The Mummer's Dance:

(After studying this and other live versions, and being fascinated by the different instruments and musicians, I've developed a sort-of crush on the drummer for this tour. His name is Tal Bergman.)

Anyway, after I finished watching The Mists of Avalon, I began reading The Crystal Cave (the first of Mary Stewart's Arthurian trilogy) on Google Books. I read until about midnight.

This morning I woke up feeling better and more relaxed than I have in months, and I thought "This must be what a 'vacation' is supposed to be." I know all of this will change once my roommate gets here (if there is to be one) and orientation starts in the morning. But for now, I feel something close to bliss.
