Awsome Storm Pictures 151

As I was coming up US43 from Mobile yesterday I couldn't resist pulling over and taking these pictures. Awesome!

These next two are of the same storm. I got ahead of it and stopped at a little truck stop at Grove Hill AL to take them.

In other news, and to catch everything up: I delivered Trip 183 to Marshall TX last Wednesday, 7/29/09. Trip 184 picked up in Shreveport LA the same day, and delivered to Saraland (Mobile) the next day, 7/30/09.

And here's Trip 185:
Trip 185

I'm using the old format for trip info because Mother bought new ink cartridges for the printer - so we could print the pictures of the dog that was attacked.

Anyway, I asked to come by the house since it was on the way and I had the time. However, I told 007 the other day that I didn't want any scheduled time off until 8/23 and 8/24, because I've got to make up for all the down time I've had lately. Breakdowns and other off times really hurt when you get paid by the mile.

From here I have 1080 miles to go - about 19 hours at 59mph. Add in a mandatory 10 hour break, and that makes 29 hours. I'm planning on leaving sometime in the morning.

The Neighbor's Pit Bull Dog Is A Killer 150

I'll post more about this later. For now let me just say I interrupted a dog fight early this morning around 12:30 or 1:00AM. I had stepped out on our porch and heard a lot of yipping and yelping, and I knew the Pit Bull and her puppies (grown dogs now) had a dog down somewhere. I drove Disabro's car to the sound, and found a horrible sight at another neighbor's house. The Pit and her offspring ran off when I walked up with a baseball bat. I woke the neighbors up.

Anyway, this is the shape the poor old dog is in this morning - click the pictures for a larger view, and you may have to scroll a little to see the whole picture. I don't think this gentle, precious, old dog will make it. It never moved from this position - not even to lift it's head up while I was taking pictures.

Neighbor's Old Dog would have been torn to pieces if I hadn't intervened. I just happened to hear the commotion in the wee hours of the morning.

The Innocent Old Dog Died 149

This is actually being posted on 8/3/09 from Meriden CT.

It breaks my heart to say it, but that precious old dog died Saturday morning, 08/01/09, according to what Mother just told me. I'm putting it in big, red letters so it won't be overlooked here on the blog:
The innocent old dog died due to the injuries it received from the neighbor's pit bull dog and her offspring.

God help me for going against Mother's wishes, but a little while ago, I called the Sheriff's office. I was finally able to talk to Deputy Sloan, a specialist in animal cases?, and told him the old dog died. I don't know if that's who I needed or not, but he promised to check into it.

I'm sorry Mother, but I can't let this go. Those dogs might attack an elderly person in the neighborhood next - or at the very least, go back and kill the other old dog that lives at the same house.

Evil begets evil. It's a bad situation all the way around.
